Drama & Acting, Ages 11-14, Thursdays

At this level students will be introduced to new fun and engaging activities, exercises and scriptwork. While expanding on what they discovered in the previous level, students will be introduced to new essential skills including; a focus on developing empathy (learning how to put themselves in others’ shoes and exploring different emotions); clear and confident communication skills (diving deeper into how to use their voice to become different characters, with a focus on safe voicework); and exploring how to become adaptable and flexible (through an introduction to improvisation). At this level we explore how the skills we learn in Drama and Acting can actually help us in life - with a specific focus on overcoming nerves and stagefright. In keeping with our focus of teaching and learning with positivity and aroha, our classes are always a safe and fun environment that’s competition-free. This means that students are encouraged to support each other and build each other up, all while growing their own self-confidence.
