Dance ages 8-10

Using upbeat and uplifting modern music, PPAM dance classes help students to become confident, coordinated and creative. Most importantly, these classes are fun! Tamariki are taught the basics of dancing and movement and how to dance safely to look after their bodies. Dance ages 11-13

PPAM dance classes help young people embrace their bodies and learn how to move confidently. Students explore ways to ‘release their inhibitions’ so that they can enjoy dancing and discover how dance can empower them to move through life. The dance skills taught at this level are a continuation of the basics with a focus on dancing safely to avoid injury. These classes employ a range of uplifting and positive music which is age appropriate.

Fun Dance Class for Adults

No dance ability or experience required! These classes are all about having a boogie and a laugh with other like-minded people. Suitable for young and old. There’s no need to memorise dance moves so you can dance at your own pace. This class explores a wide range of dance styles and music - everything from dance trends of the 1920s to the 2020s! We take requests too, so if there’s a dance style you want to try, let your teacher know! No partner required as all dances are solo. These classes usually begin with a warm up where we learn how to dance safely to look after our bodies. We focus on a set number of dances throughout the term, adding on dance moves each lesson. Dancers will benefit from regular attendance, but casual attendees are also welcome.

Drama & Acting ages 8-10

Through fun and engaging activities and exercises, students will develop essential life skills, including discovering their imagination and creativity, learning to negotiate and cooperate with others, and most importantly, gain confidence in themselves. A large focus at this level is on characterisation and storytelling. Students will explore how to use facial expressions, physicality and voicework to practice becoming a character, and then how to use those characters to create drama and communicate their stories effectively. PPAM Drama and Acting classes are non-competitive so all activities are inclusive, allowing students to learn at their own pace in a fun, safe and supportive environment.

Drama & Acting ages 11-13

At this level students will be introduced to new fun and engaging activities, exercises and scriptwork. While expanding on what they discovered in the previous level, students will be introduced to new essential skills including a focus on developing empathy (learning how to put themselves in others’ shoes and exploring different emotions), clear and confident communication skills (diving deeper into how to use their voice to become different characters, with a focus on safe voicework), and exploring how to become adaptable and flexible (through an introduction to improvisation). At this level we explore how the skills we learn in Drama and Acting can actually help us in life - with a specific focus on overcoming nerves and stagefright. In keeping with our focus of teaching and learning with positivity, aroha and respect, our classes are always a safe and fun environment that’s competition-free. This means that students are encouraged to support each other and build each other up, all while growing their own self-confidence.
